Diploma Eligibility Procedure
Diploma Admission
The candidates who pass X Standard or equivalent examinations with Mathematics and Science subjects are eligible for admission into Polytechnic Colleges. There is no age restriction to join the Diploma Courses with effect from the academic year 2004 – 2005. Candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu alone will be considered for admission to these courses. The students from other states may be considered for admission as per the regulations and guidelines laid down by the Directorate of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu. Admissions will be made as per the instructions of Government of Tamil Nadu from time to time.
Candidates for admission in three year diploma shall be required to have passed 10th S.S.L.C Examination (or) The Anglo Indian School Examination with eligibility for Higher Secondary Course in Tamil Nadu (or) any other examination recognized as equivalent to the above by the Board of Secondary Education Tamil Nadu.
Lateral Entry Admission (II Year)
For Lateral Entry into the Second year (III Semester) of the three year diploma courses, the candidates shall be required to have passed the Higher Secondary Examination (Academic or Vocational) of 10 plus 2 pattern, with the following conditions :
i. Academic Stream candidates should have compulsorily studied Maths, Physics & Chemistry at 10 + 2 level.
ii. Vocational Stream candidates should have studied either Maths or Physics or Chemistry as one of the subjects of study along with the related Vocational Subject (Theory & Practical) at 10 + 2 level.
iii. HSC / 10 th std with 2 years ITI students can directly join the second year of the three year Diploma programme
Their intake is restricted to 20% (10% for Academic + 10% for Vocational) of the sanctioned intake of the I Year Diploma Courses. There is no age limit for the admission.
Admission procedure
Application and Prospectus for admission to all courses for every Academic Year will be being issued in the college office. Students are required to register along with the completed application forms. Please ensure to submit the following certificates at the time of admission:
1. SSLC/+2 mark sheet
2.Transfer Certificate
3. Community Certificate,
Application form must be filled in English. Name and Date of birth should be written as like in SSLC/TC. Two Contact numbers with STD code must be included in the application form. Current address should be written and Passport size and Stamp size photo should be fixed in appropriate places. Fees should be remitted in office counter or through demand draft.
Procedure for Readmission
Re–Admission:
Students falling under the following category alone must apply for Re- admission.
• Students who have discontinued their studies in the previous year due to shortage of attendance only.
• Students who wish to apply for re-admission must not have completed 6 years (from their year of admission in the Diploma course) in case of Full time course, and 6 ½ years (from their year of admission into Diploma course) in case of Sandwich Course, and 7 years (from their year of admission into Diploma course) in case of Part time course.
Document to be attached: Scanned copy of Mark Sheets of previous appearance.
Continuation of Study:
Students falling under the following category alone must apply for Continuation of study.
* Students who had paid the Board Exam fee, received Hall Ticket and did not appear for even one subject in the previous Board Examination due to hospitalisation alone should apply for Continuation of Study in the next higher semester only once during the course time.
Document to be attached: Scanned copy of Hall Ticket of previous appearance and Medical certificate (Proof of Hospitalisation during Board Exam from a registered Government Medical Practitioner).
Institution Transfer:
# Transfer from one institution to another will be permitted in the beginning of the academic year i.e. odd semester like III, V and VII.
# However, transfer requests will also be considered in even semesters (II, IV, VI and VIII semesters) for genuine cases like transfer of workplace of Part time students and parents of Full time students and health conditions of students based on valid proof only.
# Transfer request from Government Polytechnic College to another Government Polytechnic College or Government Aided Polytechnic College and vice – versa alone will be accepted.
# Transfer requested from Government or Government Aided Polytechnic College to Self- Financing Polytechnic College and vice-versa will not be accepted. However, students studying in self supporting courses conducted by Government Aided Polytechnic College may apply for transfer to other self-financing Polytechnic College and Vice-versa.
# Transfer from DOTE affiliated Polytechnic College to DOTE affiliated Autonomous Polytechnic College will not be accepted.
# Transfer requested will be approved only based on the availability of vacancy in the institution to which transfer is
sought.
Document to be attached: Scanned copy of Students Transfer Consent form duly filled and signed by Principal of both Colleges and supporting documents to establish genuineness of request.
