The trust was started on 17th July 1987 with the main objective of promoting Educational and Employment Opportunity to the people who live in and around Ambur, Vellore district. Janab K. Ameenur Rahman is a leather baron and doyan of leather industry in the whole of South India.He heads the K.A.R. Group of companies located in and around Ambur, in Vellore District of Tamil Nadu and is also the chairman of the Group.
Himself a technocrat having graduated from the AC College of Technology, Chennai (now a constituent unit of Anna University) Janab K. Ameenur Rahman has turned his attention towards creating facilities in the most backward area of Ambur, for training the raw and skilled hands into skilled technicians in leather industry. He is a visionary to the core and looks far ahead of times.
The establishment of the KCET Technology Centre at Ambur, under the auspices of the Kandrikar Charitable & Educational Trust, is indeed his brainchild. The Centre offers 3 years Diploma courses in Leather Technology (DLT), Mechanical Engineering (DME), Automobile Engineering (DAE), Electrical & Electronics Engineering (DEEE) and Computer Engineering (DCE).
